The catholic church and the reproductive health bill has their own point of view when it comes in the talks of family-planning, both is for the concern and safety of many Filipino but the question is who's strategy must be ruled, what concept can make people in the good way. why this kind of argument must be the agenda?
Insisting for RH bill
It is already been stalled for more than 15 years, then again shelved by the congress where Benigno Aquino III administration come then insisting that this is the better way in order to prevent some diseases came from sex like the spreading of STD and AIDS, also the unwanted pregnancies especially that this generation are now very liberated. Since that Philippines was a poor country they believe that this may help a lot.
Regarding the issue, many politicians and including some ordinary people are agree into this concept. Surigao Bishop Nereo Odchimar said, "As of the moment tagilid kami (were on less than solid ground) because the number of congressman supporting the RH bill is increasing." Even the people are having their rally in order to pass the said bill instances like the "DAMASO" issue, Carlos Celdran the person behind this issue protest inside the Manila Cathedral for that church must not taking place the decision or job of the government.
People who's agree to this concept says that it is not just for becoming easy when it comes in sex they says that they know and understand about the RH bill and for the government they know what are their responsibilities and church must understand about this.
The church's point of view
At the beginning catholic church is against the RH bill for the purpose that natural way in family-planning is more applicable and it is being in the culture so why for this kind of concept. It is for about people must know what is right and wrong. Regarding the contraceptives according to church it is some way of abortion, because of preventing the pregnancy and based on them being in pregnant is a blessing, a gift of God, So people must accept it.
It is in our culture for being in conservative type thats why this proposed bill are new and cannot be acceptable especially in catholic church. "whether we win or lose, we still have to preach the Gospel, preach the position of the catholic church, so that it cannot be said that if the RH bill passes, it is because the bishops did not do anything [or] did not speak out." Odchimar said. That's why people of the church are willing to be in jailed if this bill will be enacted.
Fixing the problem?
The administration and the Catholic Bishop's Conference of the Philippines are having meetings and more scheduled meeting regarding to RH bill. Church says that they bring better and valid proofs in order to defend their proposal that their are having good and reasonable intension why they are against on it while government trying to explain clearly why they need to implement it and why they are truly agree with this. Hopefully sooner than later this problem will end in good way that both side can be peacefully agree for what may be the result of this issue that until now still in arguing process.
